Tips For Drinking Enough Water When Trying To Conceive.

Drinking enough water is essential to your fertility and is the easiest thing that you can implement today to improve your fertility straight away. Drinking water should be simple, but it’s actually pretty hard to find, tap water tastes yuck and bottled water is full of plastic toxicity.

Keep reading for my tips on how to have pure water at home.

For women trying to conceive, dehydration can affect…

  • Healthy egg maturation because without sufficient water, your body can’t process nutrients and hormones.
  • …which leads to dehydration interfering with or preventing ovulation
  • The cervical mucus, which is important in transporting the sperm to the fallopian tubes for egg fertilization. Having little to no cervical mucus can be an indication that you’re dehydrated. You should see 2–3 days of egg white, stretchy cervical mucus around ovulation. Without enough water, the cervical mucus that balances vaginal pH also becomes too acidic, harming the sperm.
  • Implantation — Water is necessary for cell division and metabolism. The cells of the uterine wall must be healthy for the embryo to implant.

For men, semen production and semen volume can be reduced by not drinking enough water. If semen is thicker due to dehydration, sperm may have trouble swimming.

My tips for having pure water at home…

The best and most economical water filter I have found is the British Berkfield Stainless Steel Water Filter with Ceramic Filters. It costs £130 and the filters are around £30 to replace, but they last for 6 months!

I have tried so many water filters and this is the best value, it is the best I have ever owned, the water tastes pure and is just delicious! The water filter removes the suspended solids, cloudiness, parasites, pathogenic bacteria, chlorine, bad taste & heavy metals in your water. When you refill the water into the top tank it is surprising the smell of chlorine that comes out of the top, which has been removed from the water.

My next tip to making sure I am drinking enough water is this gallon, timed water bottle. There are many of these on the market.

When choosing a water bottle, make sure it is BPA free, a glass or steel water bottle is even better than this plastic one, as plastic leaches chemicals that act like estrogen in our bodies, causing infertility. If you have high estrogen then definitely choose a glass or steel bottle.

For me, I knew my biggest issue was with the quantity of water I was drinking, I always felt incredibly dehydrated and I was unable to find a glass or stainless steel timed water bottle like this.

In this imperfect world, we need to do the best we can… and small changes really do add up when you are trying to conceive.

Do you feel like you drink enough water? What is your favourite water filter?
